how’s your father?

Filed under: vita — Russ @ 10:32 pm

My away message recently has read, “visiting my father in the hospital.” To explain: Dad had surgery a few weeks ago because he found out he had a tumor in his spine. If you’ve forgotten, or never read, I also had a tumor in my spine. The funny thing about this is that Dad’s tumor and my tumor are completely unrelated according to the neurosurgeon. Well, after Dad had a problem healing up, he had a minor stroke and went back to the doctor. They did another MRI and found out he had two more tumors in his spine. Even weirder, these tumors are unrelated to each other and unrelated to the one in his back. All of them are benign, but it’s such an odd occurrence. Anyhow, because he had brain surgery, he’s still recovering. Tonight, he was able to better hold a conversation/answer questions, but he’s still not 100%. He’s looking healthier, but it will apparently be several more weeks until he’s finished with rehab and back to normal. They think he should be back to his old self again after the rehab, and I certainly hope so. It’s really weird to be with someone one day when they’re telling stories and joking around, but the next day not even able to answer a yes or no question. If you pray, please keep him in your prayers.

Life is precious. Cherish yours. Cherish that of those around you.

Life of a Career Man

I don’t have to apologize (yet) for a severe lack of updates, it just seems more difficult to find time to write anything. Moreover, I don’t really have anything much to say as my days tend to consist of working, getting ready for work, driving to and from work, eating and sleeping. I don’t have to work on Thursday so amidst my other tasks, I’m hoping to be able to spend some time on my computer updating some things and catching up on others. So, an update is possible, but I make no promises. Otherwise, a drunken post might be in order for Friday night, which would be good times. Next week, I’ll be down in Columbus staying with my brother, Randy, probably while I do training for my job. ‘Tis all for now. Looking forward to that first paycheck…
