As long as I can remember, I’ve been a rule nazi. No particular early childhood event led me to be this way, I just am. But, I will be the first person to admit it. In almost any sort of game or competition, I do my best to know all of the rules and abide by them. And, as such, I hold everyone else to the same standards. It becomes a problem because some people play by House Rules, which I can accomodate and am willing to play by, but if we just revert to standard rules, I get really strict about it. I think it’s because I figure that cheating is cheating. Whether you cheat a little or a lot, it’s still giving you an advantage that other players aren’t able to take advantage of and the only way to even that out is to call someone out on it and penalize them. I still try to be carefree about it and it doesn’t ruin my fun, but I just like things to be played fair. This way, there’s no reason to be a sore loser because the other person(s) didn’t cheat. And, if I get beat fair and square, I am more than happy to graciously accept defeat.
Before playing, make sure everyone is clear on the rules, including anything different that you play. (bouncing is OK in beer pong, Ace can be played as low in rummy, 3s are wild in poker, etc.)
So, for anyone else who is a stickler for the rules, keep up the good work.
What’s the point in structuring a game if you’re going to remove the whole structure by abandoning the rules and guidelines?
I’m addicted to their music. Dig it!
Why do some people think they know more about the rest of the world solely because of their job?
“I’m so good at driving a car because I work at a gas station, so I know what makes them run…” Granted, this is a bit excessive, but it’s towards the point. Simply because you can use aspects of your occupation in other realms of life, doesn’t mean you’re an expert in those areas. I’m not an expert on human communications because I sell phones, so you’re not an expert on writing because you work in a paper factory.
ok, maybe i don’t hate her. but i hate watching her and find her highly annoying.
I moved in to my new apartment a week ago. I won’t publish the address because the green jetta guy is gonna stumble across this someday and then he’d know where I live. It’s kinda small, but it definitely suits me. I’m so used to basically just having my bedroom at home that having a place to call my own and actually cook, clean, and walk around naked in is quite nice. Beyond that, I still work at Sprint. Though, Andrew does have a prospect in the Ad Sales dept. at the Times-Gazette that piqued my interest. Hopefully the salary would make it worthwhile. I’m currently attending… well, enrolled in, two classes–Photography at AU and Business Communication at NCSC. They should both finish about the same time (mid-June). Bus. Comm. is web-based and Photography meets Monday and Wednesday nights 6:30-9:30. I’ve got some poor attendance already for Photography, but that’s because our entire grade was laid out to us and attendance didn’t factor in. Yeah, that’s about it for now… Any questions?
