In the quest to rule the world of Little Debbie snacks, two competitors have trounced many other competitors–Zebra Cakes, Honey Buns, even Cosmic Brownies have fallen at the feet of two spectacular treats.
Oatmeal Cream Pies and Nutty Bars are both delicious choices in the snack world, but it’s time to pick one as the all-time best. And, with it’s versatility, value, and overall ability to be consumed by the boxfull–Oatmeal Cream Pies!
Nutty Bars are ok, but they weigh in at $1.39 and you only get 12 oz. of tasty versus the 16.2 oz. of flavor for $1.19. Further, you can’t smash a Nutty Bar into a bigger sandwich.
On the flip side, you can disassemble a Nutty Bar into its many layers of sweet goodness, enjoying each layer of crispy wafer or peanut butter or chocolate as you go.
So, it’s a close race, but the Oatmeal Cream Pies will always have a soft (cream-filled) spot in my heart.

For those of you who didn’t know, before Thanksgiving, I was in an accident with the Jetta. Because of this, I got to deal with insurance companies again. Progressive Direct, as expected was friendly, quick, courteous and attentive. I dealt with different people than I had last time (when I rolled the Explorer), but they were just as good. On the other hand, dealing with insurance reps from Avis was a pretty miserable experience. They took forever to do anything, including fixing my car.
After I finally got it into a shop to be worked on, it took almost 2 weeks to get my car back. Sad. But, I have it back again, and it looks fine. Now, hopefully I can go more than a couple months without another accident (I think I’ve got my lifetime fill).

No matter who wins the NFC Championship game, I’m going to be happy. I’m a fan of the Giants, so if they win, I’ll he happy. I don’t think they’ll win against the Patriots in the Super Bowl, so the victory would be bittersweet. On the other hand, Green Bay might be able to pull out the win against New England if they make it to the Super Bowl. But, should I root against my favorite team because they have a better chance in a future game?
Besides, everybody loves Brett Favre. Not liking Favre is like not liking America. And, if you don’t like America, you shouldn’t even be watching football, you terrorist!
We’ll see, I guess. It’s been/going to be a good game anyway and I’ve already got a team to root for in the Super Bowl either way. It’s going to be rough waiting until February to watch it, but I’m pretty juiced and am only going to be sad when the football season is over.

I’m hoping to take some pictures of the weight set I have tonight so that I can get it listed on craigslist. I don’t use it anymore, not for lack of wanting to, but because we don’t really have the space for it in the house now. We could relocate it to the living room, or move the gaming/entertainment stuff to the living room, but I don’t think that seems like the ideal situation. We’ll see, i guess. I’m not really sure how much I’ll get for it, but if I don’t get any takers for a reasonable price, we’ll get it taken care of.

I am coming off the high of decimating a round of Domination on Call of Duty 4. It was amazing… I had a fair start, but after I realized that two of their best players were sitting in one spot (Capture C) on the Downpour map, it wasn’t difficult to sneak my way in there, take out those 2 guys and steal their plan. I got an air strike, blew them out of the area, called in a helicopter then took over… Hopping on the mounted turret, the helicopter and I leveled the field–racking up my 20-kill streak on the way to a 37-kill round and the MVP spot. Now, for those of you who don’t get into online multiplayer games, I apologize, but I’m too excited not to document this. Hopefully, as I get better, I’ll have more games like this, but we’ll see.

Well, it’s bittersweet. I’m glad the Giants are in the NFC Championship, but I really would prefer to see the Browns advancing through the playoffs. But, in true Cleveland fashion, they made it hard on themselves, backed themselves into a corner and lost their chance at the playoffs. But, I’ve followed the G-Men for a couple years now and am glad to see them playing up to their potential. There’s some room for improvement still, but I think next week’s game against the Packers should be fun to watch. I’m hoping that the Chargers can find a way to put some things together and put down the Patriots, but I don’t hold out a lot of hope. I’m pretty sure, barring a major injury to a few key players (read: Tom Brady, Randy Moss) and a few recoveries for the Chargers (read: Phillip Rivers, LaDainian Tomlinson), the game will belong to New England.

The last two weekends, I have stayed up at least one night until an ungodly hour playing Call of Duty 4 — typically on XBOX Live. It reminds me of the days when I was playing SOCOM II and III online all the time when I was living at home. It’s just such a good time. The only downside is that this isn’t free (yearly subscription is only like $40) and that I worry that I’m wasting my time. But, really, what are the alternatives? Television? Movies? Reading? Work? Sure, I could be productive, but I can only stay focused on stuff like that for so long. I need a reprieve or there’s nothing worth working so hard for. Besides, what else am I going to spend my money on?

I don’t know if anyone’s seen the new show on VH1 about Dr. Drew and celebrity rehab, but it’s a pretty intense realization of what drug use really does to a person, if you haven’t witnessed it first-hand (which, I haven’t). The people are crazy enough without drugs, but the drugs really wrecked their lives and you can see that they are in need of drug treatment. I can’t imagine letting that happen to my life–it reminds me of how people start acting when they’re in their final years…all despondent, emotional, and border-line crazy. So, I’ll let nature run its course and handle it that way, if it does. If you haven’t caught it, look out for the previews or one of the thousands of times they run a random episode (they love their celebreality shit).
When I was looking for TVs on Newegg, it reminded me how much I like browsing the site and piecing together the various parts that would become my little box of productivity. I get so much delight from building it and getting it all working that I don’t know if I could ever buy a computer. If I were to buy a pre-built computer, I’m not sure what I would get. It’s a really fine line between cost and performance that needs to be taken into account. If I were just looking for something cheapish that can handle most normal tasks, there are lots of choices out there. For example, click here. There are plenty of choices, but that seems like a fairly decent cheap deal. And, I don’t really have qualms with recertified/refurb/off-lease stuff at all.
