History

Born on August 3, 2005, Alfred is the offspring from a relationship between tigerdirect and me. I had previously decided that I wanted to construct a computer from scratch, but I didn’t have the resources. With the funds generated from my job at Certified, I was able to purchase all of the necessary components for my new project. It took about a week for me to get them, but when they were delivered, I was incredibly excited. I sat down with all of the parts at a table, a 6 pack of Sparks, and some tools and got to work.

Everything went together pretty smoothly and the computer has worked marvelously. I upgraded the memory once, swapped out the power supply when the first one crapped out, and added some extra stuff, but as it is now is listed below.

Specifications:

This is about as descript as I can get with most of the components because it’s been about a year and a half since I initially built the computer.

It’s not necessarily the most powerful, nor was it at the time. But, for under $500, I was able to put together a functional piece of technology that handles everything I need it to. The next project will have a bigger hard drive, faster processor, more RAM, and maybe some other minor upgrades, but it’s not really a gaming rig, so this is fine for now.
